A Different Solution to Weather: Stuart Williams at Cattle Connect 2026

Cynoptec Founder and CEO Stuart Williams presented “A Different Solution to Weather” at Cattle Connect 2026, Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, on Thursday 22 October. The session made the case for a longer planning horizon: a forward timeline of how the season may unfold, including when significant weather periods are likely, delivered while there is still time to make a different decision.

“The commercial advantage comes from having time to act.”

Stuart walked producers through how the Cynoptec Climate Intelligence model builds that timeline, from the district down to the rain zone and the producer’s own place, with every monthly forecast sealed before the month begins and published beside what actually fell. Between sessions he was at the Cynoptec stand through the day, talking with producers about the season ahead for their operations.

Why Cynoptec is different

Earlier awareness, not just another forecast

Conventional weather models are strongest over days to weeks. Cynoptec specialises in something different. We identify seasonal progression, elevated risk periods and High-Energy Periods (HEP) months before conventional models typically align. This gives you earlier visibility of developing conditions, extending your planning horizon while there is still time to assess risk, decide where to commit resources and make important decisions.

Proprietary methodology
Forecasts are built through proprietary long-range analysis and pattern recognition frameworks, rather than direct public model replication.
Continuous verification
Forecasts are reviewed against what actually happens, creating a transparent record of performance and accountability over time.
Independent analysis
We work independently, forming our own view rather than following institutional consensus.
Built for lead time
Earlier visibility of forecast conditions extends your planning horizon, giving you more time to assess risk, allocate resources and make important decisions.

One integrated forecast

The whole weather picture, months ahead

Cynoptec's long-range forecasts aren't limited to a single weather element. Depending on the season and conditions developing, forecasts can cover rainfall, temperature and heat, frost, storms, cyclones and tropical low formation, along with other significant weather risks across Australia, including conditions that can contribute to flooding or elevated fire danger. One integrated forecast, revisited as the season develops.

Decide with more confidence
A clearer read on the months ahead reduces uncertainty around the decisions that matter most.
